Decisions, decisions

There are many factors we consider when we prepare your plumeria order for shipment. Is the plant rooted enough for travel? Are there any plants available with flowers or buds? What size box should we use? Each decision affects the way your plants are packed and sent.

Safety first

We want your new plants to arrive quickly, safely and ready to grow and bloom. That means packing your plants so they don't shift in the box, and adding extra support in the corners to prevent crushing. You may see some yellow or bent leaves - don't worry, just remove them - new leaves will quickly grow back. First, a bit of insight into shipping fees Size matters! It's the volume of the box (height x width x depth) that has the biggest impact on shipping costs. Unless a box is over 50 lbs., weight seldom makes more than a few dollars difference. Our shipping fees reflect the cost of shipping a box full of rooted, in soil plumeria, regardless of the actual plant prices. After feedback from our JJ fans, we decided that a fixed price approach to shipping works best. By selecting one simple SHIP option when checking out, you can now complete your purchases directly from our online store! 1. Add your new plumeria plants to your online Cart 2. Choose a SHIP option that best reflects your plant order 3. Pay online with either PayPal or your credit card We'll notify you when your plants are on their way, plus the tracking number and insurance.

Our SHIP option is all about the box Shipping boxes hold a combination of Small and/or Medium sized plants, and the size of that box determines your shipping cost.

Large plants fit one to a box. You don't have to select shipping for Large plants - shipping fees are included in the price.

At this time, our online store can’t automatically select the correct SHIP option. Before Checkout, make a SHIP selection from the dropdown menu. We realize this is different than shopping elsewhere, so we’ve made it as easy as possible to pick the correct SHIP option.

Let's take a closer look

The SHIP pull down menu in your Cart is a list of the plant sizes that fit in a single box. For example, the SHIP option for an order of "one Medium and three Small" plants is called "SHIP: 1 Med. + 3 Sm. Plumeria".

If you don't see your order's combination of Small and/or Medium sized plants, or you're not sure which SHIP to select, please select "SHIP: Bill me the shipping cost" and we'll figure out the best combination and send you an invoice.

Our Large plumeria prices already include the shipping cost because only one Large plant fits in a box.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

My box arrived! Now what do I do?

  • For approximately two weeks, place your new plants in warm shade, out of direct sun, to acclimate to local conditions.

  • Water well.

  • Shipping can be stressful for plants, but they will recover very quickly. Yellow leaves can be removed – this doesn’t affect the plant’s overall health.

We do our best to protect flowers or buds to prevent damage during transit.

I live nearby. Can I stop by your greenhouses to get my new plants?

  • You're welcome to come to our Gopher Canyon greenhouses to get your new plants. We'll tag and hold your plants once we get your paid order, and then send you an email when they're ready for you.

  • Select the SHIP option of "Pickup in Vista" from your Cart.

  • Available for all sizes and quantity of plants.

What's the difference between the Small, Medium and Large size plants? The different sizes reflect the pot size, and to some extent, the plant size. Small and Medium plants are very consistent in size.

  • Small is typically a single tip or short multi-tip plant rooted in a black one gallon pot.

  • Medium is always a multi-tip plant and is rooted in either a colorful 8" slit pot or a black two gallon pot.

  • Large is a multi-tip plant growing in a black five gallon pot. The plant size varies with the growth habit.

Why are there two prices for Large plumeria?

Our Large size plants are available with two choices: one choice reflects the price of the plant plus the shipping fee. The other choice is the price of the plant if picked up in Vista.

  • If you want to pick up your Large sized plumeria in our Vista location, choose "Large in Soil: Pickup only" from the SHOP drop down menu, add it to your Cart and then select the option "SHIP: Pickup in Vista" when you’re ready to pay.

  • If you want your Large plumeria delivered, select 'SHIP: Large Plumeria only'.

What if I just order Large plumeria, not any of the Small or Medium sizes?

  • If your Cart only has Large plumeria, choose 'SHIP: Large Plumeria only'.

What if I order Large plumeria plus a few Small or Medium sizes? What shipping do I choose?

  • You can mix and match different sized plumeria in your Cart.

  • Since Large plumeria include the shipping fee, choose "Large in Soil incl. Shipping" from the SHOP drop down menu.

  • If you order Small or Medium plants in addition to Large plants, choose a matching SHIP option for the Small and Medium sizes.

  • For example, if your order has two "Large in Soil incl. Shipping" and four "Medium in Soil" plants, choose "SHIP: 2 or 3 or 4 Med. Plumeria".

I'm not sure which SHIP option to pick. What should I do?

  • We'll figure it out for you! To get a custom quote, select "SHIP: Bill me the shipping cost" and we'll send you a shipping invoice.

  • For big or complex orders, select "SHIP: Bill me the shipping cost". We find the best deal for you.

  • If you choose a SHIP option that won't work for your order, we'll contact you.

I didn’t choose a SHIP option and went ahead and paid for my cart. Why hasn't my order arrived?

  • By default, the Cart selects "SHIP: 1 Sm. Plumeria". We don't have a way to automatically review your cart and select the correct shipping for you.

  • If you owe more for shipping, we will send you an invoice for the difference. If you don't pay the correct shipping, we will not send your order. Please check for an invoice email.

  • If you overpay for shipping, we'll issue a refund for the difference.

Where do you ship?

  • Anywhere in the continental USA.

  • Due to costly paperwork, we don’t ship plants, seeds or cuttings to international destinations.

Do you ship to P.O. boxes?

  • Sorry, no deliveries to a P.O. box.

How often do you ship boxes?

  • We ship at least once a week and up to three times a week during the busy season.

  • We're a small, family-run business. Please be patient while we prepare your new plants for delivery.

Do you offer free shipping?

  • No, we do not.

What shipping services do you use?

  • For shipping, we use both FedEx Ground and USPS with tracking and insurance.

  • A negotiated contract with FedEx keeps our shipping costs down.

  • Our shipping prices include a small handling fee for labor, boxes, packing materials, etc.

  • Every year, we review our shipping prices and adjust them as needed.

  • Note: Prices subject to change without notice.

My box of plants didn’t arrive. Can you send a replacement?

  • All our shipments are fully insured for the price of the plants plus shipping fees. If your plants are damaged or the shipment is lost, make an insurance claim with the delivery service.

  • All FedEx and USPS deliveries require a signature upon delivery. This is for your protection in the rare case of a problem or missing boxes.

  • If you can't sign for the package or pick it up at a FedEx or USPS office, please add a Note to your order.

  • As with other online businesses, filing an insurance claim is the only way to resolve a shipping problem. We do not replace orders due to delivery problems, a damaged box and/or if you decline the signature requirement.

I want my plants as soon as possible. Can you add Expedited shipping?

  • Yes, Overnight, 2 or 3 Day Delivery is available on request.

  • Call/text 760-533-4663 or add a Note on your Cart.

  • We’ll send you an invoice for the extra cost.

I have a Jungle Jack Gift Card with a GiftUp code. How do I apply it to my order?

  • To apply your GiftUp balance to your order, text Christie at 760-533-4663 with the unique 5 character GiftUp code plus your order number. We'll directly refund the Gift Card amount from your invoice.

  • Our online store doesn't yet accept GiftUp cards. When that feature becomes available, we'll update our Cart and this blog.

Can I just call in my plumeria order?

  • Now that we have end-to-end online shopping, please use our Shop menu, put your new plants into a Cart and pay securely online.

How do I pay for my order?

  • From your Cart, select "Checkout with Paypal" to see the various payment methods.

  • We accept Paypal and all major credit cards via a secure transaction.

  • You don't need a Paypal account to pay for your order.

  • State sales tax is added to every order. You'll see the details in either your Cart or during Checkout.

Great! I submitted my order. What happens next?

Once we receive your paid order, our first step is to find the best plants, with top priority given to ones in bud or bloom. Next, your new plants are checked for quality and carefully packed by hand.

  • For the actual shipping, we generate a FedEx Ground or USPS shipping order with insurance and a tracking number.

  • All FedEx / USPS shipping requires a signature. If you aren’t available to sign for your delivery, please let us know via a Note on the Cart.

  • Once we have the shipping order, we'll send you an email with the tracking information so you know when your new plants will arrive. Delivery dates may change, so check the delivery service site often.

  • If you want to pick up the box at a local FedEx store or Post office, please let us know via a Note in your Cart.

Can I pick the exact plant I want?

  • The only way to select specific plants is to visit our Vista greenhouses.

  • Keep in mind that we're a commercial nursery, not a hobby seller. All our Small and Medium sized plants are very consistent in both size and shape. We'll select the best looking plant for your order.

  • Whenever possible, we ship plumeria in bud or in bloom, however, we can't guarantee that your new plant is flowering. If you absolutely must have flowers, please contact your local florist.

Does the online store reflect the varieties you have on hand?

  • All plants in the store reflect real time inventory counts, updated daily.

  • We're planning on a new, easy to use 'Notify when Available" feature for out of stock varieties and sizes. When it's ready, we'll publish in John's Blog.
